Scientist are working on how it all started. We just dont know yet.
I never said the universe "just is" or at least I didnt imply that. You ask why is there something rather then nothing. That question is being worked on. We have good theories so far and each year we discover more clues. But, to try to answer this without handing over multiple text from multiple fields, I will try to simplify it. The why isn't known and the how is being discovered. But, most likely the "why" is as simple as chance. There doesn't appear to be any reason at all. We just are.
